CelebrateHAMILTON 2022: Tour of Hamilton Grange

July 10, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Join the AHA Society for an exciting tour of the Hamilton Grange Historic Floors. The Hamilton Grange National Memorial has recently reopened after being closed for two years due to Covid-19 regulations. Members of the AHA Society will take tours from 10 am to 11 am, but regular tours will continue throughout the rest of the day.

Tours start at 10:00 am sharp. Be there early!

Do I need to make a reservation to take other tours?

The Hamilton Grange National Memorial strongly recommends reserving a spot for tours. Currently, Hamilton Grange National Memorial is offering self-guided tours in fifteen minute increments between 10 am – 12 pm and 1 pm – 4 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. You can reserve a tour for up to five people by emailing hagr_info@nps.gov with your desired tour time.

Was Hamilton Grange actually moved?

Yes. Twice! In 1889, the city began building new streets across Alexander Hamilton’s former estate. A church bought The Grange and moved it to safety, two blocks away. In 2008, the National Park Service moved the building to its current home in St. Nicholas Park, which is located on a part of Hamilton’s original estate.

What is the architectural style of The Grange?

It was designed in the early Federalist style.

Who was the architect?

John McComb, Jr. He was an American architect who designed many landmarks in the 18th and 19th centuries, including New York City Hall (1803), Gracie Mansion, Castle Clinton and the Montauk Point Light.
