Alexander Hamilton is deservedly renowned for his outstanding writings on government, finance, and political philosophy. However, some of his most beautiful and engaging letters relate to affairs of the heart. This online program features selected letters from Hamilton on the topic of love. The letters reveal the romantic world of Alexander Hamilton as a young Revolutionary War officer in search of lasting love and family happiness – which he ultimately finds with Elizabeth Schuyler. This event celebrates the anniversary of Eliza and Alexander’s wedding, which took place on December 14, 1780.
The letters will be introduced and read by Mariana Oller, Chair of the AHA Society and Associate Curator of Special Collections at Wellesley College, together with Dr. Thomas Oller, the Vice Chair of the AHA Society and a Master Lecturer in Writing at Boston University.
