Madi Frick: “Alexander Hamilton and the US Constitution”

Join Madi Frick to learn the story of Alexander Hamilton’s role in advocating for and forming the United States Constitution. She will start the presentation with a brief overview of Hamilton’s life up through the American Revolution to help contextualize his life and his viewpoints regarding government. Then, the talk will cover the time between the American Revolution and the Constitutional Convention, detailing the role and failures of the Articles of Confederation. Next, Madi will recount Hamilton’s time at the Constitutional Convention, as well as his advocacy for the U.S. Constitution through the Federalist Papers and at the New York Ratifying Convention. She will then talk about Hamilton’s vital part in shaping the early American Republic, and his lasting impact on the United States Government.
Throughout the presentation Madi will use primary documents to help tell the story of Hamilton’s involvement in creating the young republic. Her goal is to make these sources and the information of this talk easily accessible to all and to encourage her audience to study this topic further. She aims to make the story of Hamilton’s commitment and dedication to the U.S. Constitution’s success more known and appreciated by the public. This presentation is geared towards anyone who wants to know more about this fascinating time period in American History.

BIO
Madi Frick graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. In 2024, she received the Caroline Mays Brevard Award for the most outstanding undergraduate research paper on Florida History from the Florida Historical Society for her paper about a local ghost town titled, “A Forgotten People, A Forgotten Place: The Story of Rye.” She now works as a museum educator at a maritime museum. In this role she does outreach and programming, coordinates volunteers, manages the museum’s memberships, plans social media, and much more! She works with all ages and enjoys connecting people to their heritage.
She previously served as a longtime volunteer for her local agricultural museum, where she assisted with creating educational programming, collections, and other general museum projects. Madi was also their collections intern for a semester while completing her degree. In addition, she volunteered at her local historical records library and helped them catalog and research historic land abstracts.
Madi enjoys public speaking and frequently gives lectures on Alexander Hamilton, the American Revolution, the American Founding, and local history to her public library system as a volunteer. She has had a longtime interest in the life and times of Alexander Hamilton and enjoys researching and writing about him in her free time. She specifically likes researching his legal career, his writings, and his religion. She strongly values accuracy and truth when it comes to telling his story. Overall, Madi has a passion for telling the stories of the past to all ages and wants to encourage others to love history as well!
